Weddings are extraordinary celebrations, filled with genuine emotion, laughter, and those beautiful, unscripted moments. But all too often, traditional wedding photography can feel stiff, posed, and disconnected from the real magic of the day. That’s why I’ve chosen a different path—one that is all about embracing the authenticity of your wedding day exactly as it unfolds. As a documentary wedding photographer, I approach every celebration with a commitment to capturing the true, unfiltered story of your love.
At its core, documentary wedding photography (sometimes called reportage or photojournalistic photography) is all about storytelling. Rather than directing you into staged poses or asking you to “smile for the camera,” I blend into the background, observing and capturing moments as they naturally happen. It’s about documenting the laughter, tears, and quiet glances that define your day, without interrupting or influencing the flow of events.
In essence, it’s your wedding day told through candid, heartfelt images that reflect who you are as a couple.
As a queer, autistic wedding photographer, my perspective and approach are deeply personal. For me, it’s not just about taking beautiful photos—it’s about creating a space where you can truly be yourselves. I understand that every couple is unique, and my goal is to document your wedding in a way that feels true to your story.
Here’s what you can expect when working with me:
In traditional wedding photography, there’s a lot of focus on posing couples, arranging groups, and ensuring that everyone looks picture-perfect. While these photos can be beautiful, they don’t always capture the raw emotion or unique story of your day.
Documentary wedding photography, on the other hand, is about embracing the unexpected and celebrating the real. Here’s why it’s so special:
I’ve been so grateful to document weddings for couples who value authenticity, creativity, and a focus on the moments that matter most. Here’s what some of my couples have shared about their experience:
“We didn’t even notice you were there most of the time, but you somehow captured everything. When we looked through our photos, we laughed, cried, and felt like we were right back in the moment. Thank you for giving us a way to relive our day exactly as it happened.”
“We were worried about feeling awkward in front of the camera, but you made it feel so easy. The photos are so us—natural, unfiltered, and full of joy. We wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.”
Every couple is different, and your wedding photos should reflect that. If you’re looking for a Columbus documentary wedding photographer who will capture your day with honesty, empathy, and an eye for real connection, I would love to be part of your story.
Reach out to me, and let’s create something beautiful together—a gallery of memories that feels uniquely you. Because, at the end of the day, your wedding is about so much more than pretty photos; it’s about preserving the love, laughter, and magic of your day for years to come.
