There’s something about fall that makes family photos feel a little more nostalgic. It’s one of my favorite times of year to photograph families. And this year, I’m offering Columbus fall family sessions on film during the fall.

Film makes the little moments feel even more memorable

Film has a way of holding onto a feeling. The grain, the colors, the little imperfection, all adds to the sense that you’re looking back on a real memory rather than just a perfectly polished photo.

During a family session, I’m not asking everyone to stand still and smile for an hour. I want to photograph the way your kids run through the leaves, the way you pull them back in for a hug, the outtakes, the laughter, and all the little moments happening in between.

Film feels especially fitting for that.

Fall family photos don’t have to feel like a production

I know family photos can sometimes come with a lot of pressure. You have to pick outfits, get everyone out the door, hope the kids are in a good mood, and somehow convince everyone to cooperate at the same time.

My approach is a little more relaxed.

I’ll guide you when you need it, but I also want to leave room for your family to actually be yourselves. Your kids can move, explore, play, and be a little silly. You don’t have to spend the entire session looking directly at the camera.
