Fall is one of my favorite times of year for family photos in Columbus. The leaves are changing, the air is getting cooler, and everything feels a little more inviting to slow down and spend time together.
But if you’re imagining Columbus fall family photos and immediately thinking about getting everyone dressed, convincing your kids to cooperate, and spending an hour trying to smile at the camera, I want you to know that doesn’t have to be what your family photos feel like.
My approach to photography is natural, relaxed, and centered around the way your family actually interacts.

You don’t need to spend your entire session standing in a line and smiling directly at the camera. In fact, some of my favorite photos happen in between those moments.
I’ll give you some direction when you need it, but I’m not interested in making your family perform for the camera. Instead, I’ll encourage you to move around, play with your kids, hold hands, tell jokes, explore, and just spend time together.
The result is natural and relaxed family photos that feel more like your family and less like a photoshoot.

Especially when it comes to Columbus fall family photos, there is so much room to let kids move and explore. They can run through the leaves, be silly, take breaks, and honestly just be themselves.
You don’t have to apologize if your kid isn’t interested in sitting still or smiling perfectly. I promise, that isn’t the goal.
Some of the best photos are the ones where your toddler is running away, your kid is laughing too hard to look at the camera, or everyone is piled together for a hug.
Those moments are part of your family’s story too.

You don’t need to know how to pose or worry about what to do with your hands. That’s my job.
I’ll guide you when it helps and then give you space to fall into your own moments together. My goal is for your session to feel easy enough that, eventually, you forget you’re even being photographed.
Whether we’re exploring a park, walking through fall leaves, or finding a cozy little corner somewhere around Columbus, your photos should reflect what this season of life actually feels like.

Family photos are about more than getting one perfect image for your holiday card. They’re a way to remember the little things: the way your kid fits in your arms right now, the way everyone laughs together, the messy and beautiful energy of your family as it exists today.
If you’re looking for Columbus fall family photos that feel natural and relaxed, I’d love to photograph your family exactly as you are.
Let’s make some photos that feel less like a production and more like an afternoon spent together.
Looking for a Columbus family photographer? Let’s create something natural, relaxed, and true to your family.
