There’s something really special about documenting love in places that already hold joy. Alex and Hayley’s engagement session at Sugar n’ Spice Restaurant was exactly that. As a Cincinnati engagement photographer, I’m always drawn to locations that feel personal, playful, and a little nostalgic and this one checked every box.
If you’ve ever been to Cincinnati, you probably know that Sugar & Spice is more than just a diner, it’s an experience. Between the retro vibes, rainbow sprinkles, and iconic rubber duckies, it created the perfect backdrop for Alex and Hayley’s love story.

Choosing a location that reflects your personality is something I always encourage as a Cincinnati engagement photographer. For Alex and Hayley, this spot was already special for them as they stop by frequently together.
One of my favorite parts of this session was how effortlessly Alex and Hayley leaned into the moment. There was no pressure to pose perfectly, just space to be themselves. They giggled, shared bites of pancakes, and stole kisses in between.

This is the heart of what I do as a Cincinnati engagement photographer, documenting what’s real. The in-between moments, the way your hands find each other naturally, the laughter you can’t fake. That’s where the magic lives.
Sessions like this are a reminder that your engagement photos don’t have to feel stiff or traditional. You don’t need a scenic overlook or a perfectly styled outfit (though those can be beautiful too). Sometimes, all you need is a place that feels like home.
As a Cincinnati engagement photographer, I believe your photos should reflect your actual relationship. Not a version of it curated for the camera. Alex and Hayley’s session was filled with movement, color, and authenticity, and that’s what made it unforgettable.

If you’re dreaming up your own engagement session, here are a few things to keep in mind:
By the end of the session, it didn’t feel like a photoshoot. It felt like hanging out with two people deeply in love, documenting their story as it naturally unfolded. And that’s always the goal.

If you’re looking for a Cincinnati engagement photographer who values connection over perfection and storytelling over stiff poses, I’d love to create something that feels like you.
